Hi all,
Recently I have gotten a number of inquiries from other guys who are thinking of making the move to Brazil.
While a move abroad isn´t for everyone, for me it certainly has worked out well. I´ve never looked back. That said, getting established in a new country presents challenges. It helps to have friends who can share advice and help.
My friend Flavio recently invited me to join www.InterNations.Org, a worldwide organization which has local groups in dozens of cities around the world. I wish I´d known about InterNations when I first arrivewd here in Rio.
InterNations has more or less monthly get-togethers, each month at a different establishment around town. There are special-interest groups, and forums which include Jobs, ExPat Q&A, Housing, and Town Talk. It´s a great to help ease the transition as you build your own network of friends.
What I like most about InterNations is that members are both ex-pats and locals.
You can check it out at www.InterNations.Org. You will notice that you have to be invited or sponsored by an existing member to join. If you are interested in joining, shoot me an e-mail (John@JohnInBrazil.Org) and let´s get acquainted. Please put InterNations in the subjext line if you would. (I´ve been getting lots of spam and don´t want to delete your message by accident!)
If you´ve considered a move abroad, just know that you can make it happen. I am just a regular guy like you, and here I am. And it´s getting better all the time.
Maybe we can share a beer on beach one day.
Um abraço,
John
