Video: Hang gliding over Rio de Janeiro
Posted in Activities, Rio de Janeiro, Travel Recommendations on 08. Mar, 2010
Hi all,
If you visit Rio, do yourself a favor and look beyond Christ the Redeemer, the beach, and clubbing. There are lots of great outdoor activities here. Hang gliding is one that you should seriously consider, especially if you have good health coverage. LOL/rsrsrs
Check at the front desk of your hotel, in your guidebook, or at any travel agent to arrange for pick up and flight. Or just grab a cab to Praia do Pepino (Cucumber Beach – hey, I didn’t name it) on any clear day and you’ll be accosted by guys offering you deals. Expect to pay around $100 US. You should certainly dicker. The slower the day, the harder a bargain you can drive. (Tip: Call a couple places before going to get an idea of the standard price.) Ask about a photo package. It’s well worth the extra price. I flew with a guy named Alex – you’ll see him in the photos and the video. He was very professional, and speaks reasonable English. If he’s there, I recommend him.
OK, so I went hang gliding. It was actually my second time. I was probably more nervous the second time because Alex likes those damned 360 rotations and I’m not a big fan. That said, it was an incredible rush and I intend to do it again. Maybe see you there?
OK, you can see still photos on my Facebook page: JohnPlummetsToHisDeath,

All kidding aside, life is short. Spike your adrenaline. Take the leap.
